Arrey Obenson Named Secretary General of Junior Chamber International

Obenson Becomes the 22 nd Secretary General of Junior Chamber International ST. LOUIS, MO, USA, June 1, 2015 — Arrey Obenson, a native of Cameroon, who lives with his family in O’Fallon, MO, has been appointed secretary general of St. Louis-based JCI , a global service organization of nearly 200,000 young people in more than 120 countries worldwide. Obenson’s appointment was made by JCI President Ismail Haznedar and confirmed by the organization’s international General Assembly. Obenson becomes the 22 nd secretary general of the 100-year-old organization, which was founded in St. Louis in 1915. Obenson previously served as acting secretary general, and prior to that, deputy secretary general, a post he held since joining JCI’s world headquarters in 2002. As secretary general, he oversees the day-to-day management of the international organization. Obenson joined JCI in 1995 as a founding member of JCI Limbe Atlantic in Cameroon, where he held several leadership positions before starting work with the international organization. Before joining the JCI headquarters team in St. Louis, Obenson was an attorney in Cameroon, where he practiced civil litigation, criminal law, commercial transactions and international trade. He is a Barrister of Law and a current member of the Cameroon Bar Association. Obenson also holds a Master of Law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Through his appointment as JCI secretary general, Obenson said he will continue to use forward-thinking concepts to further the JCI Mission and help the organization continue to unite all sectors of society here and abroad to create sustainable impact.
